The legion of loyal Indian ardent fans of charismatic senior actor Rishi (‘Chints’) Kapoor are euphoric with joy. That’s because the outspoken yet exuberant Kapoor (currently in New York), is recovering steadily from his critical ailment and is expected to return to India by end-August.
This would enable his family and close friends to celebrate his 67th birthday on 04th September with loads of warm enthusiasm. However, the pragmatic Rishi is not willing to confirm right now.
“Everything depends on what my attending doctors say. I am feeling good and recovered well. Should be 100 per cent fit when I decide to fly back to India,” reacted Rishi who is a major cricket-buff-cum-connoisseur of the dynamic ‘howzat’ game and has been religiously keeping tabs on the ongoing ICC World Cup cricket matches.
Incidentally Rishi’s doting actress wife Neetu Kapoor had shifted her base to New York and has been stationed ever since her actor-hubby was admitted to the Sloan-Kettering for intensive treatment.
That Rishi is immensely popular among the film-fraternity, is evident with the fact that besides Ranbir and his girl-friend Alia Bhatt, over a dozen Bollywood luminaries including Shah Rukh Khan, Boman Irani, Sonu Nigam, Aamir Khan and Deepika Padukone were among the VIP visitors who dropped in at the S K Medical Center in NY to meet him. According to cine-trade sources, if all goes well, a family comedy Hindi movie pairing the Kapoor opposite Juhi Chawla is also expected to go on floors by December, this year.
Besides few other movies whose directors are also eagerly waiting for him to resume shooting. It may be recalled, that in May last year, the versatile Rishi was well-appreciated for his performance in an elderly character’s role in the satirical social comedy movie ‘102 Not Out’ . Where he sparred his histrionic talents with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan ---who in turn played his super-aged yet agile father.
