Debonair actor Aditya ’Mickey’ Kapoor (iconic actor Shammi Kapoor’s son) seemed happy to know that his mother, ‘late’ legendary star-actress-danseuse Geeta Bali’s screen-role is being essayed by National Award winning actress Vidya Balan in this Marathi bio-pic ‘Ek Albela’ dedicated to the iconic actor-dancer-director of the 50’s ‘Bhagwan Dada’.
Reacts the Kapoor, “It has always been my ardent wish, that today’s WhatsApp generation should be aware about my lead actress mother Geeta-ji and her major contribution to Hindi cinema with her string of memorable movies like ‘Jailor’, ‘Baaz’, ‘Baazi, ‘Bawre Nain’, ‘Anand Math’, ‘Vachan’ and of course ‘Albela’. It’s heartening to know that Vidya, who is an amazing actress is ‘briefly’ bringing my stunningly beautiful mother’s persona alive on screen. My best wishes are with Vidya, who I guess, would do justice,” smiles Aditya.
Meanwhile the bubbly Balan, who won accolades for her author-backed role in ‘Kahaani’ and ‘Dirty Picture’ considers this cameo-biopic-role offer to be “an honour “. “Especially after the ‘look-test’ we were convinced that Vidya would perfectly suit Geeta-ji’s role. Since Geeta was a Hindi movie star, Vidya is not required to speak Marathi dialogues. We are already shooting and within a week’s time we would be ‘done’ with Ms. Balan’s cameo portions,” discloses ‘Ek Albela’ director Shekhar Sartandel, who was formerly assisting Mahesh Manjrekar.
Interestingly Vidya, who is fond of retro-Bollywood musical movies, had expressed her dream wish, to play madame Indira Gandhi in a bio-pic.
