Incredible as it may sound, the amazing actor Vicky Kaushal who plays the serious-cum-hilarious scene-stealer Kamles-bhai (aka 'Kamli') with the correct Gujju-bhai accent in the latest multi-starrer blockbuster 'Sanju', is otherwise a qualified telecom – electronics engineer who jilted his academics and job assignment and got himself hijacked into acting and stardom.
Not that anyone who has seen Meghna Gulzar's 'Raazi' (he played Alia Bhatt's Pakistani fauji husband) or 'Sanju' is complaining. While it was not unexpected for the acclaimed actor Ranbir ('Barfi') Kapoor to come up with such an awesome take-off on 'Sanju-baba', under the diligent direction of the 'showman-wizard' Raju Hirani, it is Kaushal (of 'Sakespeare' and 'Ghapaa-ghap' fame) who fires his slick acting 'salvos' and grabs attention. The vibrant Vicky seemed elated yet cool and chilled-out, even when he got to know that while his previous movie 'Raazi' has marched-past the Rs 200 crore-mark, his latest 'Sanju' has already swag-walked into the Rs 300 crore-plus club!
It's a foregone conclusion that Vicky will bag various top awards for this year in the 'Best Supporting Actor' category. Refuting speculations that his 'Kamli' character was based on Dutt's real life buddy Paresh Ghelani, actor Vicky has clarified, “It's more of an amalgam of multiple friends from Dutt's life and that it's partially fictionalised. But some of the crazy incidents and weird situations did take place.”
Incidentally, the rugged Vicky has now injured himself in Serbia whilst shooting for his next Bollywood movie 'Uri', based on the recent war-zone surgical strikes by the Indian Army.
