The trippy trailer of upcoming film ''Udta Punjab'', which revolves around rampant drug abuse in Punjab, may have impressed many, but the film is bound to land in a legal soup, considering the controversy it caused in Punjab after the release of the trailer.
Reacting to the trailer, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA from Khem Karan, Virsa Singh Valtoha, said that the film is an outcome of a trend to defame Punjab and its youth. Singh added that he has no issues with a film sending across a message about the ill-effects of drugs, but claims that the trailer makes it look like Punjab is a haven for drug users, which is not right.
Singh also promised that this matter will not be ignored, which makes us wonder if the offended parties plan to seek legal action to have the film banned in the days to come.
Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, ''Udta Punjab'' stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanj.
