In a lull before two big films coming at Diwali time, another instalment of This & That, which are random observations and comments on films and stars. This week has a glut of small films filling in this gap week; if any survives till next week, it will be a wonder.

  • Bollywood owes a debt to Parmeshwar Godrej—she taught style to a lot of actresses
  • Amitabh Bachchan turned 74 with the whole country celebrating with and for him. He must have felt so blessed
  • It is rather nice of Ajay Devgan to say that his family lives a normal middle class life, but he is obviously ignorant of how the middle class lives
  • Cricket really must be a religion for even a mediocre film about a cricketer to become a hit
  • The trailer of Befikre has got some hilarious responses
  • Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan coming together for Thugs of Hindostan is interesting news
  • Irrfan Khan has a good role in Inferno, with some cracking dialogue…this is real international stardom.
  • That the Roshans won’t give up their K connection makes news!
  • Sonu Sood did an energetic job of promoting his production Tutak Tutak Tutiya..perhaps he should have paid some attention to content too?
  • It doesn’t happen too often then a film as well promoted as Mirzya is shot down by reviewers and public alike.
  • Unlike other actresses, Kareena Kapoor is flaunting her pregnancy
  • The news of a romance between a rather staid filmmaker and his lead actress seems to be a publicity stunt, but it has got the grapevine buzzing
  • Was the ruckus over Pakistani actors in Bollywood just to harass some major producers?
  • Superhero films have not quite caught on in Bollywood, so it’s good to know that Ayan Mukherjee is going ahead with Dragon, starring Ranbir Kapoor
  • A forthcoming Hindi release is reported to be full of cusswords, but the now-innocuous ‘f’ word was edited from a Hollywoofd film
  • Considering Sunny Leone is such a brand that a documentary has been made for her, her choice of films is rather poor
  • Is it possible that Kangana Ranaut and Sonam Kapoor have been off the news pages for a couple of days now?
  • The MAMI Festival has a fine line-up of films this year… it’s worth the price of registration.
