Amitabh Bachchan is the numero uno star in the last several decades and he is still firing and kicking in his latest action underworld drama ‘Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap’. The ADC spoke to Big B about his much awaited film at a press meet. Here is what the undisputed king of the industry has to say.
Tell us something about ‘Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap’.
Viacom18 and AB Corp's ‘Bbuddah - Hoga Terra Baap’ will see me as the Bachchan of 70’s and 80’s in his trendsetting 70’s Vijay self. It’s written and directed by Puri Jagannadh, the director of South hit ‘Pokkiri’, the original of ‘Wanted’. ‘Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap’ will resurrect the legendary Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Angry man’ avatar.
What is the film about?
In the movie, Amitabh Bachchan phenomenon reprises the famous ‘Vijay’, which I have played in popular films like Deewar, Agneepath and Zanjeer. I essay the role of a retired hitman settled in Paris, who comes back to India to do ‘one last job’. During the course he comes face to face with his past and that gets him to change his motive for the ‘hit’. ‘Bbuddah’ will also see me in a super stylized avatar complete with scarves, jazzy shirts, designer denims, branded glares, two watches and riding a Harley Davidson. It exudes the style and attitude of a flamboyant man who is very young at heart. The film is a fast paced action thriller which showcase me in a never seen before stylized action avatar.
How was the experience if singing in this film?
I have sung the title track ‘Bbuddah – Hoga Terra Baap’ in the ‘A capella’ style! A capella music is a solo or a group vocal or singing without any instrumental sound. Interestingly, music directors Vishal – Shekhar had been planning to do something unique with me since quite some time and they came up with the idea of using the a capella style to create a memorable number for ‘Bbuddah’. When the duo approached me with this suggestion, they were in for a pleasant surprise when I immediately agreed to do it! The song is currently a huge hit with audiences! The film promises to have all the action and masala of a true blue Bollywood film with the ‘original action hero’.
Who are your co-stars in the movie?
The movie stars Hema Malini, Raveena Tandon, Sonu Sood, Sonal Chauhan, Southern actress Charmi and South Indian baddie, Prakash Raj. Sonu Sood plays an honest brave cop, who is after me all the time and we have complemented each other very well .Sonu has done a great job.
Your look in the film is a hit. Who designed your look?
I have been styled by Leepakshi Ellawadi. After several brainstorming sessions, the team came up with the idea of styling me in a bold, outlandish manner; something that has never been tried on screen with me.
