Tahira Kocchar is on the threshold of stardom with her debut film Rabba Main Kya Karoon and as she eagerly awaits the release of her film, the ADC’s Sandeep Hattangadi had a brief chat with her. Here is what the beautiful debutant has to say.
Please tell us something about yourself?
I hail from Delhi and did my education there from a British school where the school board exams are not held in the 10th standard but in the 13th standard. I also did my International Baccalaureate diploma and modelled while in school and also did a stint in public relations and advertising. I was one of the 20 finalists in ‘Femina Miss India 2010’ and since then I always wanted to be a star like Madhuri Dixit. I accepted this acting offer for Rabba Main Kya Karoon and fulfilled my childhood dream.
How did you bag this role?
Actually, I was getting many offers after the ‘Femina Miss India’ contest but I refused them since I wanted to concentrate on my studies and also the assistant director of Rabba Main Kya Karoon was keen that I should do the film. I refused. But when the director, Amrit Sagar himself urged me, I went for the audition in Delhi and was selected.
Do you have any acting experience?
Not much. I did a 10-day workshop before the shoot of the film and I also acted in plays and danced while in school and college.
What is your character in the film?
I play a highly strung, emotional girl called Sneha Malhotra.
Was it not a bit risky to act opposite a newcomer like Akash Chopra?
No. Not at all. Akash is a talented actor and we also have senior actors like Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Raj Babbar, Shakti Kapoor and I learnt a lot from them.
