Actress Madhuri Dixit, who will be seen doing action sequences in her upcoming film 'Gulaab Gang', has used her Taekwondo skills, which she learnt in the US, to pull off difficult stunts. "When I was in Denver, I would take my kids to a Taekwondo class and would wait for an hour to bring them back. When I realised that I was just sitting and wasting my time, I enrolled in a family programme. We were five steps away from getting the black belt. Taekwondo has helped me a lot in my action stunts for 'Gulaab Gang'," Madhuri told PTI in an interview.
Besides Taekwondo, Madhuri feels her dancing skills helped her choreograph her fight scenes in the movie, but she did train with Shaolin Kung Fu expert Kanishka Sharma, to polish her movements.
"To a certain extent, dance and fight are similar since there is a rhythm to both. Since this involved a hand-to-hand combat, Kanishka helped me polish my movements," she added.
'Gulaab Gang' tells the story of a group of Indian women dressed in pink saris that fight against social injustice operating in Bundelkhand, Uttar and Madhya Pradesh. It features Madhuri and Juhi Chawla together for the first time. Produced by Anubhav Sinha and directed by debutant Soumik Sen, 'Gulaab Gang' is slated for a March 7 release.
