Like the effervescent yet bohemian Mallika Sherawat, off-screen controversy seems to be Swastika Mukherjee's middle name as well. Come April and Bollywood will usher in the latest Bong bomb-shell actress Swastika Mukherjee who makes her lead heroine debut in YRF upcoming film ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’ (DBB) opposite the macho dude Sushant Singh Rajput (of ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ fame).
Already showbiz producers are waiting with bated breath to check out the performance of the sultry Swastika as the ‘femme fatale’ Angoori in the period movie directed by Dibakar Banerjee (of ‘Love Sex aur Dhokha’) . The ‘colourful’ Swastika who is known for her bold, dare-bare scenes in a string of Bengali movies including ‘Take One’, seems excited having shot for ‘DBB’.
The spunky actress considers it an honour to be working with the prestigious YRF banner. Apparently she found it exciting to work in the pre-independence era with the authentic old-world ambience, the vintage cars – a world minus mobile phones and computers. The theme of the ‘DBB’ movie which goes ‘expect the unexpected’, has the Mumbai filmi biradari already speculating whether Swastika has shot for shock-value intimate scenes. According to insiders, Rani Mukherjee had apparently turned down the same female lead role in ‘DBB’ as she felt it was ‘ brazenly bold’.
