Starring in sequels mere co-incidence: Shraddha Kapoor

Monday, August 31, 2015

With "Aashiqui 2", "ABCD 2" and now musical drama "Rock On! 2", Shraddha Kapoor is fast becoming the sequel queen but the actress says there has never been a conscious decision to do follow-ups of successful movies and she just looks for a great story and character in a film. The 26-year-old actress said she is cautious that she has a genuine role in the sequel and gets a scope to perform, besides making sure that the story is not a continuation of the first movie.

"Yes it is true that three of my films are sequels. But it is mere co-incidence. I sign the film that I do as I found the role and story interesting. "Also because no one of the new films have a similar story line of the original film… They are not connected to the first one. They are new stories," Shraddha said.

The actress' first two releases "Teen Patti" and "Love Ka The End" was lost without a trace and it was in 2013 romantic drama "Aashiqui 2" directed by Mohit Suri that catapulted her to success.

Since then has had her hands full, having starred in films like "Ek Villain", "Haider" and "ABCD 2" and also done playback for herself.

Shraddha admitted that at times it does get exhausting juggling between two art forms but she is not complaining as she is living her childhood dream. "It is a lot fun... It gets a little exhausting but when you are living your childhood dream then it is all worth it. I feel like I am so blessed to get these opportunities.

"To be able to sing for my own films, to be able to do films that are so special and stay connected with audience. I am blessed to be doing everything," she said.
