The MAMI film Fest 2015 whose dynamic organizing team is helmed by chairperson Kiran Rao, is leaving no stone unturned, to make their 17th edition a memorable event marked by showmanship. Which includes a ‘live’ performance by Oscar Award-winner A R Rahman.
The eight-day fest which is also going ‘digital’ with an innovative section called ‘Play’, will flag off its spectacular opening ceremony tonight (Thursday) with an outdoor son-et-lumiere razzle-dazzle light show at the iconic ‘Gateway of India’ monument, whose red silhouette incidentally is the symbolic ‘logo’ of the Jio-MAMI.
A galaxy of Bollywood celebs including Hrithik Roshan , Kangna Ranaut. Parineeti Chopra, director Rajkumar Hirani and Radhika Apte would be attending the event which will also have the State CM Devendra Fadnavis gracing the grand occasion.
The coveted ‘Excellence in Cinema’ Award would be presented to the illustrious writer-duo Salim Javed who have milestone movies like ‘Deewar’ and ‘Sholay’ to their credit. An exclusive post-event star-studded party will be hosted by Mukesh and Nita Ambani (the Co-Chair of the film fest) at their opulent ‘Antilla’ in South Mumbai.
Incidentally, the original YRF ‘YouTube’ series from their youth studio, Y-Films ‘Bang Baaja Baaraat’ will be premiering at ‘PLAY’. The web series is a hilarious take on what happens when two families from different backgrounds come together for a wedding.
