Neha Dhupia is a name to sizzle the screen in Bollywood today. Her successful films like Mithya, Singh Is Kingg, De Danna Dan, etc. have made her a saleable star today. Her new film Phas Gaye Re Obama releases today. We spoke to Neha at a press meet of the film. Here is what she has to say.
What is your role in Phas Gaya Re Obama?
I play a character in the vein of a female Gabbar Singh called Munnibai who is a sort of a dacoit gang leader in the heartland of UP. I speak in the local lingo which I worked hard to master and also sing a song in the Munni Badnaam Hui type which I hope the audience will appreciate.
Why did you accept this role?
I am always on the look out for something different and when director Subhash Kapoor came to me with the offer of this film, I liked the whole concept of the film which is a satirical comedy on a serious subject like recession narrated in a funny way. Also my character of a dacoit was very interesting. So I accepted this film.
How was it like working on the film?
It was great fun since most of the unit and actors like Manu Rishi, Sanjay Mishra, and the director Subhash Kapoor are from Delhi and there was a lot of camaraderie on the sets. Also Rajat Kapoor who is the leading man in the film is an old friend of mine. So, it was great to work in far flung locations in the film. I have made new friends in actors like Amole Gupte and Pragati Pandey who is a debutant in the film.
