Tigmanshu Dhulia, director of this week's well-received ‘Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster’ had a "germ" of an idea of its sequel even before the release of the first instalment, says the producer.
"Tigmanshu Dhulia had a germ of an idea before the release of 'Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster'. He just needed to develop that idea. And we have the sequel," producer Sunil Bohra says.
The sequel will be launched on Thursday at the Kino Cottage here in Andheri. The film will feature the same cast of Randeep Hooda, Mahie Gill and Jimmy Shergill. But it would be made on a far more lavish scale. All three actors' remuneration has been seriously hiked.
"We never expected this kind of appreciation for 'Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster'. We've decided to launch a sequel right away. Why wait? At the moment the excitement is fresh and vibrant in both the crew and the audience," Bohra says.
Probably the swiftest sequel ever, the second instalment will be made on a far grander scale. "The success of this film proves we can make unconventional themes for a mainstream audience," Bohra says.
