Sachin Pilgaonkar is one of the veteran stars of Hindi and Marathi cinema having started as a child actor when he was just four years old and now he is playing a grandfather for the first time in a YRF produced web series ‘Sex Chat with Pappu and Pappa’. ADC spoke to the evergreen actor about his latest role and this is what he has to tell us in a no holds barred conversation.
Sachin Sir, what is the reason for the longevity of your career and what made you accept this series?
I have always met people who are doing something new right from the age of 4 when I made my big screen debut and this web series ‘Sex Chat with Pappu and Papa’ and I play the conservative father of Papa played by Anand Tiwari and the grandfather of Pappu played by Kabir Majid. It’s a comedy series based on sex education in a clean way and how an inquisitive boy asks his father played by Anand Tiwari, most complicated questions like pregnancy, condoms, masturbation, Sanitary napkins, etc. The boys mother is played by Sanjeeda Sheikh and also in the cast is Alka Amin. The director of this web series is Ashish Patil who was with MTV before and is now with Y Films, a subsidiary of Yash Raj films.
Have you too undergone this kind of a situation in your personal life?
Yes. My father Sharad Pilgaonkar first told me about the flowers and bees when I was around six and half years and then when I turned thirteen and he was very supportive in clearing all my doubts about the secrets of adult life.
Would you have done a role like Pappu when you started your career as a child actor?
Yes. Why not? I was confident after the first two days of my shooting but Kabir has done a wonderful job and hats off to the young boy.
How was Ashish Patil as a producer director?
He is a very innovative producer director and has got a great bunch of writers and actors and technicians and he was very clear in his mind as to how to about this new format and when we shot outdoors, it was a wonderful experience where we were treated to good food every day.
