Promos of ‘Rockstar’ are on and while the film has generated all around positive vibes already, there are also good expectations from Imtiaz Ali to score a hat trick after ‘Love Aaj Kal’ and ‘Jab We Met’ with Ranbir Kapoor too delivering his biggest hit till date afterRaajneeti and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani. However, in the middle of this all, the one factor that makes Rockstar a film it is, its music, isn't going unnoticed either. If insiders are to believed, A.R. Rahman has returned to his magical ways all over again with an elaborate soundtrack which should find itself high on the popularity quotient.
"Oscar winner Rahman has been giving all the attention to Rockstar as it a dramatic musical. The genre by itself is such that it is inspiring Rahman to deliver his best. After a lukewarm last year when none of his Bollywood soundtracks, namely ‘Raavan’, ‘Jhootha Hi Sahi’, ‘Robot’ and ‘Ada... A Way Of Life’ covered a long distance, Rahman's bets are pretty much placed on Ranbir Kapoor's ‘Rockstar’", says an insider. Those who have heard the music of ‘Rockstar’ claim that Rahman is back in mighty form with this one and delivered a soundtrack that brings with it a new sound, is extraordinary and should find acceptance from mass as well as class audiences.
"Not many are aware that Imtiaz and Rahman have enjoyed an association over ‘Rockstar’ way before Ranbir stepped into the film. The film was earlier supposed to be made with John Abraham and Imtiaz had already started collaboration with Rahman. This was much before ‘Love Aaj Kal’ happened with Saif Ali Khan. However, due to certain reasons ‘Rockstar’ couldn't take off with John but Imtiaz and Rahman bonded big time. They formed a pact that whenever ‘Rockstar’ would be made again, Rahman would score for the film", the source continues.
This is the reason why even though Pritam composed for Imtiaz's ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Love Aaj Kal’ and delivered a chartbuster score for both the films, it was Rahman who was back in action when it came to the filmmaker's biggest film till date.
"Rahman went ahead and composed fresh music for ‘Rockstar’ to go with today's time. It has been a long time since he composed for an out and out musical. In fact this is 12 years after ‘Taal’ that he is working on a Hindi film where the basic theme, subject and storyline revolves around music. Now everyone knows how big a success ‘Taal’ was. One hopes that ‘Rockstar’ is even bigger", says an insider.
Well, we hope so too. Though Imtiaz Ali was unavailable for comment, news is that he would be unveiling the music soon in an innovative manner.
