Bollywood model-actress-danseuse Chitrangada who recently tantalised the audiences in her sensuous glam-item song ''Seedha Andar Aao Raja'' in the Akshay Kumar starrer ''Gabbar is Back'', will now play a 'rock-star' in a new movie titled ''Band of Maharajas'' directed by the award-winning Girish Malik. The stunning actress who is in her late 30s, defies her age with her rejuvenated looks. The otherwise glib Chitrangada whose secret dream is to work opposite Shah Rukh Khan, is reticent these days following her marital split-up with her ace golfer husband Jyoti Randhawa. ''All I can say is that it's a challenging-fun maverick lead role and I am excited with the script,'' shrugs the actress who highly values her 'independence'.
According to the producers Puneet Singh and Raju Chadha, the musical movie with dollops of comedy, will have Chitrangada playing a spunky pop-singer and has three more exuberant boys co-stars who are Punjabi folk-musicians.
According to insiders, the shapely Singh who has a sung a remix track earlier, in ''Joker'', may even sing a playback number this time, but that is yet to be worked out. The talented actress who has that uncanny facial resemblance to the legendary Smita Patil seems to have modelled her career too like the 'late' awesome actress. Simply because Chitrangada has maintained a balanced blend between serious-arty and commercial mainstream cinema with movies like ''Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi'', ''Desi Boyz'', ''Inkaar'' and ''I, Me Aur Main''.
