It was a cinematic high on foreign soil. Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor were all blissed out at Bradford in the UK. The stars had vroomed into the city for a promotional campaign of their upcoming release 'Befikre', the Yash Raj Films venture slated to hit cinemas on December 9. The show was aimed to integrate the Indian diaspora to UK’s myriad populace through Bollywood and tourism.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Ranveer-Vaani statue in the 'Befikre' lip-lock signature pose which has been used on all publicity creatives and posters. On popular demand and audience request the on-screen couple enacted the pose live on stage to singer Harshi Mad's reverberating rendition of the title track 'Ude Dil Befikre' from the romcom.
For Bollywood singer-performer and former 'Indian Idol' talent, Harshi Mad it was nothing short of a momentous evening. Thronged by a 5000-plus strong crowd at the World’s first UNESCO city of film, Harshi shared stage with Ranveer Singh and Vani Kapoor.
The high-octane performance dished out by Harshi mostly comprised Yash Raj film songs, of course topped with her very own recent hits- 'Jagerbomb' and 'Raat Saturday ki Hain'. She opened the show with 'Dhoom Machale' and other smash hit numbers like 'Baby Ko Base Pasand Hain' getting the audience to sing along.
The finale leading upto the entry of the sizzling hot couple on stage were songs from 'Befikre' such as 'Nashe si chad gayi' and 'Ude dil befikre' which the British-Indian singer, Harshi sang effortlessly, welcoming Ranveer and Vaani to her hometown. The event also marks the home-coming for Harshi as the singer grew up in the same country where she performed.
Recalling the super-thrilling evening Harshi stated, “I have been super-excited to be a part of this event in UK, which is my home. I have grown up on Bollywood despite living so far away. So really to be a part of 'Befikre' in Bradford is like two big dreams merging. The crowd was awesome and it was an honour to welcome Yash Raj Films and the stars to my homeground and such a coveted platform like the UNESCO city of Film.”
Asked about her 'Befikre' moment, pat comes the response, “Oh 'Befikre' is about being carefree, so by that count I think I had one, right on stage. I don’t know what possessed me but I sang 'Ude Dil Befikre' and the crowd went mad with that one line and I immediately flung my jacket away in this freezing cold weather, my body was all frozen but the energy over there really pushed me to go totally 'befikre'.”
Harshi added, “Ranveer Singh is such a crowd magnet. He rushed into the crowd twice over and the ladies in the crowd went ballistic. I was in half a mind to go join the crowd just for the sheer energy and Ranveer’s charm. I’m floored.”
For the uninformed, vocalist-danseuse Harshi Mad has performed in over 1,500 events worldwide and also recently struck gold in Bollywood. She rendered a track with Ankit Tiwari and Dwayne Bravo for the recent release 'Tum Bin 2' directed by Anubhav Sinha.
