
Vimala Raman makes her Bollywood debut
After making her presence felt in Kollywood, Tollywood and Mollywood, it is now destination Bollywood for Vimala Raman. The Australia-born actress is currently part of two Hindi projects, and one of them will feature her as a journalist.
While Vimala plays a media woman in Ankush Bhatt directed Mumbai Mirror, which has Sachiin Joshi as the hero, she will also be seen doing a crucial role in Afra Tafri, which is fast taking shape.
“It is my long time wish to play a journalist. I am happy that I have bagged one such role in Mumbai Mirror. I am looking forward for such challenging roles which would offer me with good scope to perform”, says an ecstatic Vimala.
Mumbai Mirror which stars Prakash Raaj, Mahesh Manjrekar, Aditya Panscholi, Prashant Narayanan is slated to release on January 18.
Kapil Sibal pens lyrics for Bollywood film
Politics and films seldom mix, however in one of the firsts for Bollywood, India’s Communications Minister, and poet in his spare time, Kapil Sibal has penned a love song for a new Bollywood film.
In fact Sibal took up the challenge from actor- director Aditya Om to pen four songs, one of which has made it to the film Bandook. Sibal’s number which is said to be a romantic track showcases the pangs of separation of two lovers.
Sibal, 64, already has two collections of poetry under his belt and has linked poems to politics in the past. Bandook which releases this month looks at the gun culture in northern India and the link between crime and politics.
Akshay begins New Year with ‘Thuppakki’ remake
After a successful 2012, actor Akshay Kumar enters 2013 by shooting for the Hindi remake of Tamil action thriller Thuppakki. “Started shooting my first film in the New Year, the Hindi remake of Thuppakki! Would love to get your good wishes today,” Akshay tweeted on Thursday.
For the Hindi remake, Akshay once again teams up with Sonakshi Sinha with whom he worked in Joker and Rowdy Rathore.
The original was directed by A.R. Murugadoss, who wields the megaphone for the Hindi remake too. The year 2012 was a splendid year for Akshay with as many as five hits - he had six outings and out of them Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore, Oh My God! and Khiladi 786. These films not only earned profit, but some even entered the Rs.100-crore club. The only spoilsport was Joker.
‘Ek Thi Daayan’ trailer to release with Matru...
The first trailer of much awaited supernatural thriller Ek Thi Daayan will be released with Vishal Bhardwaj’s forthcoming movie Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola on January 11, 2013. Directed by debutant Kannan Iyer, Ek Thi Daayan co-produced by Ekta Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj, features Emraan Hashmi, Kalki Koechlin, Huma Qureshi and Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead roles and is set to release April 18, 2013.
Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola stars Imran Khan, Anushka Sharma and Pankaj Kapur in lead roles.
