The otherwise award-winning extraordinary actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is apparently finding it a tough task playing the title role of Balasaheb in the upcoming biopic 'Thackeray' dedicated, to the life and times of the legendary Shiv Sena supremo. The unassuming Nawazudding admits that he still gets “sleepless nights on the eve of shooting for Thackeray.”
Just a few days ago, writer-MP Sanjay Raut, actor Siddiqui and Dr Shrikant Bhasi (Founder and Chairman – Carnival Group), spent quality time discussing details on the sets of the historic mega-movie 'Thackeray'. Incidentally, Raut revaled that while director Abhijit Panse was scouting for the right actor, he had Nawazuddin's face in mind. “I always knew Nawaz bhai was the right one,”, insists Raut.
Asked why he took up this formidable acting assignment, the 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' actor justifies, “Balasaheb was a transparent personality who empowered the common man and it is a lifetime experience essaying him.” Incidentally, the popular movie teaser has intrigued movie-buffs across the nation.
Sanjay Raut has the final say... “Balasaheb made the common man into a super-man. If there is ever a personality whose biography should be made after Mahatma Gandhi, it is our revered Sena patriarch!”
The biopic is expected to release early next year, on January 23 – the birth anniversary of Balasaheb.
