This is Rakesh Roshan’s silver jubilee year as a director in Bollywood. His first film as a director was Khudgarz (1987). In the ensuing 25 years he has given the audiences blockbusters like Karan Arjun, Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish, Kaho Na Pyar Hai, Khoon Bhari Maang etc. The director who celebrates his birthday on September 6, is now busy with Krrish 3. Excerpts from a recent interview.
Does Hrithik have the capacity to surprise the filmmaker in you?
Yes, after I’ve explained a take to him I gauge what he’s going to give me but he often surpasses my expectations. That surprises me. He is a complete actor. Give him any type of role and he will rise to the challenge.
How has the experience of making ‘Krrish 3’ been so far?
Krrish 3 gives me restless, sleepless nights but in a way it is good because it keeps me alert. I am not relaxed. I am constantly trying to rectify, read up, watch new things, look up references. I am learning every day. Krrish 3 is a big challenge for me as a director.
