“The day my seasoned film-maker dad Vikram Bhatt is recognised widely as 'Krishna Bhatt's father', I guess my mission would be accomplished,” smiles winsome director Krishna Bhatt whose web-series movie 'Maaya-2' which deals with passionate 'lesbian love' is currently among the most-viewed web-series.
Were there any apprehensions for Krishna stepping into the shoes of her dad Vikky (Vikram) who had directed the bold, bizarre prequel 'Maaya-1' with 'BDSM' as its theme? “ Not really. It was a natural process for me to take over. But the pressure was to maintain the benchmark levels previously set by my dad and make 'Maaya 2' even better. The second challenge was to come up with a taboo, yet sensitive, sentimental love-story between two beautiful 'hottie' girls played so convincingly by popular TV actresses Priyal Gor and Leena Jumani,” shrugs Krishna, who has incorporated physical intimacy and kissing scenes in 'Maaya-2'.
Interestingly, both Priyal and Leena are amused with the mixed-responses. “While boys are fantasising and envying us for the 'lip-lock' scenes, the girls feel that we are gutsy to go-for-it,” they say with a blush flushing across their faces.
Did Leena Jumani (of telly-show 'Kumkum Bhaagya' fame) have any inhibitions for the girl-to-girl 'kissing' scenes? “It was initially difficult and dicey as we were self-conscious and ended up giggling. But once we glided into our screen-characters, it was as thrilling as a roller-coaster. We can’t even dream of playing such bohemian characters in TV shows, since they are mostly family dramas,” explains Leena, whose co-stars include the vivacious Bollywood actress Anangsha Biswas, the stunning Tanvi Thakkar and the suave Pranav Sachdev who plays the 'scheming villain'.
