Refusing to be emotionally shattered by his bizarre break-up with his steady girl-friend model-actress Bipasha Basu, ex-beau John Abraham seems to have bounced back with fiery force, literally. That’s because his movie ‘Force’ is releasing today, cashing in on the auspicious Navratri festive fervour. Quips the macho Abraham, , “Isn’t it strange that even when we are about to shoot a romantic lovey-dovey or even a tear-jerking sequence, the movie director screams ‘action’.
Which only goes to prove how vital, action is to Bollywood. After my superhit ‘Dhoom’, where I played a hunky super-smart anti-hero, audiences will see a more dynamic avatar of my tough, rugged image in this real, raw action-thriller ‘Force’ where I will be seen as a honest, senior anti-narcotics (ACP) police officer,” gushes John who identified himself with the lead character played by Surya Sivakumar in this Tamil mega-hit ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ (2003) and instantly agreed to feature in the Hindi remake directed by Nishikant Kamat ( of ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’ fame) for noted producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah.
Hasn’t there been an blatant ‘overdose’ of action-packed sadistic-violent Hindi movies including the latest Ajay Devgan starrer ‘Singham’ and Salman Khan’s ‘Bodyguard’? With a shrug, he unleashes his verbal sparring. “Slick action scenes in any flick are a huge kick for the masses and ‘Force’ will be no exception. Besides, our movie ‘Force’, offers a high level of credibility in its screen-characters, because there has been a lot of painstaking research work done on real-life narcotics networking.. We have interacted with real-life dare-devil senior cops from the police force cracking the drug-mafia menace.
Secondly, its not just a roller-coaster of violence as ‘Force’ has some sensitive, sensuous lilting romantic songs and cosy scenes between Genelia D’souza and me. For that matter there was our on-screen marriage ceremony where Genelia and I sat through the rites and rituals with an actual priest reciting the holy mantras,” enthuses John. It may be recalled that this nuptial sequence was over-hyped by the media as ‘John-Genelia almost married’.
Always known for his fetish for muscular fitness and for speedy spunky mobikes, the adventurous Abraham “religiously slogged for eight months” to build a Greek God sinewy body that could earn him the tag of desi Sylvester Stallone. As if to drive hard his craze for mobikes, the ‘Dhoom’ baddie has even lifted and hurled away a heavyweight motorcycle, in the movie, which will probably have the girls gasping. “All I wish to advice today’s gen-next youth is that there is no short-cut to a well-toned muscular body. If you don’t have that much extra time, at least focus on basic fitness and correct diets ,” signs off Abraham sporting his dimpled smile.
