A full-length biopic 'Kaagaz Ki Kashti' by an acclaimed film-maker in memory of Ghazal maestro, Jagjit Singh, marks the exponent's 75th birth anniversary, today. Documentary film-maker, Brahmanand Singh who won two National Awards for his 'Pancham Unmixed', is close to the end of making of the biopic, reportedly, will be released in a couple of months. The exuberant film-maker reveals that the biopic is an evocative lyrical saga of a down-to-earth small-town boy, Jagmohan (his actual name), from Ganganagar in the state of Rajasthan, who makes it big by adding the extra zing in his music.
The sublime feature showcases his bass-baritone euphoric vocal music, with philosophical lyrics, of his exciting elevation to stardom, of love and loss, of tribulations n' triumphs, wherein one will get to visualise the 'real' Jagjit unmasked- portraying the man's love for horses, passion for philanthropy and his sense of spontaneous zany humour.
The biopic will feature anecdotes shared by a galaxy of celebs including Chitra Singh (wife), Gulzar, Subhash Ghai, Mahesh Bhatt, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Sunil Gavaskar and Pankaj Udhas.
Five evergreen songs sung by Jagjit for Bollywood movies:
‘Tum Itna Jo Muskura (‘Arth’), Woh kaagaz ki kashti (‘Aaj’), Tumko dekha to yeh (‘Saath Saath’), Hontho se chhoo lo tum (‘Prem Geet’) , Chitthi Na Koi Sandesh (‘Dushman’)
