Versatile Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff who has been appointed the ‘brand ambassador’ for the shorts, animation and documentaries biennial Mumbai international film festival popularly known as ‘MIFF’, commencing today, plans to “direct and appear on screen for PSA (public service announcements) documentaries and ‘reality’ short films for the Films Division on major social causes and dreaded diseases.
''It’s both a privileged honour and a delight to be actively associated with the MIFF’. Deviating from fiction-fantasy and dabbling in stark reality is itself a challenge. It will educate and enlighten the masses. It’s as if I am the seed of this benevolent mission which will evolve and grow into a huge tree with more involvement in future from the Bollywood fraternity,” enthuses Jackie.
The inaugural event is being convened this evening with the State CM Devendra Fadnavis as the ‘chief guest’, while the I&B Minister of State Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore would be presiding. Film maestro, Shyam Benegal is also among the distinguished invitees.
The MIFF will be screening a total of 385 films over the six-day event.
