Internet teenage record-breaking mega-sensation Priya Prakash Varrier, who has fascinated the romantic imagination of almost every other Indian (including the discerning senior Bollywood star-actor Rishi Kapoor) with her cute, innocent yet attention-arresting eyes and eye-brow raising mannerisms, can probably heave a sigh of relief. The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed all criminal proceedings against actress Priya, who recently became the ‘whirlwind darling-of-the-nation for her winsome ‘wink’ in a song-teaser of an upcoming Malayalam movie. The winsome Varrier had moved the Supreme Court on Monday seeking quashing of an FIR lodged against her in Telangana.
Meanwhile, speculations are rife in Bollywood trade-circles whether the ‘countrywide crush’ Priya could ideally be cast in a Hindi teenage love-story. Especially because, not only is she fluent in Hindi, she is a trained classical dancer and even adept at singing, blessed with a dulcet voice. She is open to Hindi offers.
Four time National Award-winning director Madhur Bhandarkar reacted, “Priya seems to have a promising potential and a natural confidence with which she charmed the entire nation.”
Interestingly, Priya, who is a self-confessed fan of Deepika Padukone, SRK, Ranveer Singh and singer Arijit Singh, apparently gave that iconic eye-brows ‘see-saw’ and wink perfect ‘unrehearsed’ shot in “just one take, because additional retakes may not have been that natural and spontaneous.”
Well, the Priya phenomenon reminds one of the racy song from the movie ‘Dulhe Raja’ (1998), which goes ‘Ladki kamaal rey ki, ankhiyon se goli maare’!
