Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali said it was a great experience to work with Shah Rukh Khan in 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' and he hopes that he justifies the superstar's talent in the film.
Imtiaz, who has previously directed films such as 'Jab We Met', 'Love Aaj Kal' and 'Tamasha', has teamed up with Shah Rukh for the first time in the upcoming romantic comedy, which also features Anushka Sharma.
"He is the most gracious, funny, passionate person, filmmaker friend that one can hope for. It's his kindness that the film has turned out so well. I'm happy that I got a chance to work with The Shah Rukh Khan. I hope I've been able to justify the huge talent and resource that the man is," he said. The filmmaker also praised Anushka and said he wanted to work with the actress since a very long time.
Recently, Shah Rukh had compared Imtiaz to Yash Chopra, saying that the 'Rockstar' director's flair for writing love stories reminds him of the late filmmaker. When asked about the same, Imtiaz said, "To be compared to Mr Yash Chopra is both, a matter of unbelievable pride and a little embarrassment and humiliation because in my own eyes I stand nowhere close to him. I would never say that I have any quality which resembles him because for me, he is just a huge legend. Just my name taken in the same sentence as Yash Chopra will make my family very proud."
Shah Rukh Khan has assured that the film has nothing inappropriate, after the Censor Board Chief recently objected to a word in the promo of the movie.
Pahlaj Nihalani, the Chief of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), had asked to delete the word 'intercourse' from one of the mini-promos of the film for TV, saying he would retain it if he gets one lakh votes in its favour. Now that Nihalani has received one lakh votes, Shah Rukh was asked about his reaction.
"The way people have voted, they should come and watch the film too. I've said this before as well, we respect the CBFC a lot, they are doing their job, we are doing ours. Having said that, I don't think in the context of the film there is anything objectionable," SRK said at a special event where he launched the new song of 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' on Monday evening.
The entire team of the film along with SRK, co-star Anushka Sharma and director Imtiaz Ali, went club hopping to launch the song 'Beech Beech Mein'. This is the second song from the film which came out after five mini promos and a celebratory track 'Radha'.
"The idea of coming out with the mini trails was very difficult. Once I had asked Shah Rukh Khan how can we cut a trailer for this film as there is so much happening in the film. I am happy that people are responding to it (mini trails) positively," Anushka said.
Imtiaz is also excited to watch his friend Ranbir Kapoor's latest 'Jagga Jasoos', directed by Anurag Basu. "I am very excited, almost nervous about the prospect of 'Jagga Jasoos'. I'll be there first day first show to watch the film and I wish everybody does, because this is the most hugely talented director and actor coming together."
