Not only does Kareena Kapoor’s birthday fall on September 21, her ambitious film ‘Heroine’ is also releasing on the same date. We managed to meet the beautiful star in a suburban five-star, where she was the guest of honour at an event.
What was the best thing about working with Madhur Bhandarkar?
Madhur is a very relaxed person. We were doing this dangerous scene and he was eating bhajiyas on the side. But that’s him and he’s been doing that since ‘Chandni Bar’. I love Madhur’s style and I was at great ease working with him.
You are going to carry this film on your shoulders?
It's going to be interesting because it's a dream role for any actor. At this stage of my career, it's the best decision because it is going to showcase those aspects of my histrionic abilities which have never been seen before. Madhur makes interesting films and people like to see his films.
What’s your role in ‘Heroine’?
I play the protagonist in the film which is about the rise and fall of an actress in the Indian film industry. Also, I am happy about the fact that ‘Heroine’ has turned out to be my bravest role. Not many actors would want to play the role of a declining superstar.
It’s being said that no heroine has ever been paid as much as you have got for ‘Heroine’?
I don’t know about others but I have got what I deserve. I know what my talent is worth.
Your expectations from ‘Heroine’?
Now, I just want to enjoy the taste of this film’s success. There can be no bigger joy than seeing your film become a Rs 100-crore hit. It’s like a full meal of daal, chawal, sabzi and achaar. I want my ‘Heroine’ to do well.
