Popular Bollywood actor-anchor-orator-radio-show-host-musicologist Annu Kapoor (of ‘Vicky Donor’ fame) was in his elements, wearing a flamboyant ‘hat’, at the trailer launch of his latest film ‘Mr.Kabaadi’ (scrap-dealer), which is the last film of the ‘late’ iconic actor Om Puri who plays the ‘sutradhaar’ of the movie directed by his ex-wife Seema Kapoor.
Annu revealed,“ It’s a Chaplinesque satirical comedy with a strong social message and I am cast in the film in the title role because of my earthy looks. Incidentally, I don’t watch my own films, it’s my phobia complex that I feel I lack the photogenic looks. Regardless of whether I am considered a bad or a good actor, one of the sentimental reasons why I acted in this film was because the dedicated director Seema also happens to be my sister. And as a worthy brother, I had to honour her command.”
The movie also stars Vinay Pathak, Saarika, Brijendra Kala, charming newcomers Kashish Vohra and Dr. Apurv Nain.
Producer-singer Anup Jalota who has sung a hilarious theme bhajan in the movie which is picturised on him said, “Om Puri was a proactive life-line for our film. Fortunately, we had ‘sync-sound’ for his dialogues and hence, no dubbing was required. We really miss Om-jee’s presence and hence this film is dedicated to his memory. Our family entertainer ‘..Kabaadi’ also conveys a strong message of social hypocrisy and the class-struggle and also promotes the ‘swachh Bhaarat mission’.”
