Actor Annu Kapoor, yesterday, said that he is the original radio jockey (RJ) and not Ameen Sayani or lyricist Javed Akhtar, as they have not made any radio programmes to take the legacy of Bollywood's unheard anecdotes and gossip tales to the audience.
"With all due respect to Ameen Sayani and Javed Akhtar, I am the original radio jockey, not them. It was after I started 'Suhana Safar', everybody else started such programmes. No other person can claim to have recorded 800 episodes.''
Akhtar is hosting a programme titled "Jaane Pehchane" on Epic Channel, while Sayani, who once captivated listeners by his inimitable voice, is back on FM radio, conducting two such programmes "Sitaron ki jawaniya" and "Sangeet kay sitaron ki mehfil".
Kapoor, who was in the city to promote his 92.7 FM's award-winning show, "Suhana Safar", said, "By recording five or six stories, one doesn't become a veteran. I am the original master, the original radio jockey. The anecdotes and gossips of Bollywood is well-researched. My stories are not internet-based alone. We meet people personally. We also do our analysis. Amidst all this, there are hundreds of stories, we don't believe in.''
Commenting on Suhana Safar's foray in Bengaluru, Kapoor said, "I am extremely elated to see that the show is already gaining wide acceptance from the listeners in the Silicon city of India. It's a moment of pride for me to get a chance to celebrate the success with all my well-wishers."
