Music composer Vishal Khurana says filmmakers like Rajkumar Hirani, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Vikas Bahl are blessed with a good sense of music.
Khurana had composed a song for Shyam Benegal's ''Well Done Abba" and has now given the music of Sonam Kapoor-starrer "Neerja".
"Filmmakers like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Rajkumar Hirani, Vikas Bahl and Anurag Kashyap have great sense of music. Music is a very personal, creative thing and these directors are blessed with it. Look at the music in their films and you will realise they have a good ear for songs," Vishal said.
Biopic "Neerja", directed by Ram Madhvani, stars Sonam in the titular role of slain flight attendant Neerja Bhanot who saved lives of her passengers on a hijacked Pan Am Flight.
Khurana says Sonam was very supportive with the film's music. "Sonam had heard the music earlier and her reaction was very positive. 'Aisa Kyun Maa' was the first song she heard and she was very happy, emotional. She was encouraging and supportive throughout the journey."
Khurana, who is also doing the background score of the film, has worked more than a year on it to get the right music. "I had worked with Ram during an ad campaign. He offered me the film and asked me to read about Neerja. I had read the script too and was completely inspired by her story.
"The brief given to me was the music should be a part of the film and go with it's tone - simple and straight from the heart. I worked on the album for more than a year."
The film also marks the acting debut of music composer Shekhar Rajavani, who has also sung a song in the movie. "Shekhar was very supportive. Even though he is a composer singer himself, there was no interference from his side. He is such a big name in the industry and yet is so humble. I learnt a lot from him," Khurana said.
