Hijacked into acting: Divya

The multi-faceted Divya Menon who plays the lead in movie magnate Vashu Bhagnani’s chiller-thriller upcoming movie titled ‘Mona Darling’, does not flaunt the airs of a typical filmy heroine. “That’s because I was sort of hijacked into stardom by destiny,” chuckles articulate Divya, who is otherwise a qualified fashion designer having assisted eminent Sabyasachi, and also a rock-on singer-cum-guitarist as well.

“When their diligent scout search for the right actress turned futile, ultimately I became the probable option. On Sabya’s recommendation, director Dibakar auditioned me and after a workshop, cast me as the introvertish, timid character of ‘Satyawati’ in the YashRaj period movie ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’. Out here in ‘Mona..’ directed by Shashi Sudigala, I will be seen playing a tomboyish, hot-blooded yet emotionally-driven character Sarah,” informs Divya whose catchy movie title is inspired by the iconic lines of legendary star-villain Ajit.

“There is even a funny, inebriated spin-off on this same dialogue, in our college campus-centric movie with streaks of scary supernatural. The film which is a gripping killer-whodunit, gets its twist when my best buddy Mona too goes ‘missing’. That too, following an explicit social media-networking sex scandal involving her boyfriend. The intimate scenes are uploaded under a fake profile, tagged ‘Mona Darling’,” reveals Menon, who also has the net-support of geek-hacker ‘Wiki’ during her ‘main-yahaan-tum-kahaan’ search mission to locate Mona, played by Suzanna Mukherjee.

“Now that the acting bug has bitten me, I guess I will go with the flow,” shrugs ‘detective’ Divya whose khwaaish now is to dabble in crazy comedy.
