In a glittering gem added to the 100 plus crore crown of the sensational Zee and Essel Vision co-production, ‘Sairat’, senior diplomats from foreign consulates attended and appreciated a special show of the Marathi mega-hit movie, with English sub-titles, at the plush premium Roxy theatre at Charni Road.
The special show convened by theatre owners and business barons, Feroz and his father Yusuf Lakdawala had top local consulate officials from almost a dozen foreign countries including the U.S., Turkey, Belgium, South Africa, Japan, Brazil and Serbia. It was the first of its kind and was co-ordinated by Sherman Communications.
Enthused Feroz, “Roxy theatre has been a witness to record runs of many Bollywood classics, including India's first talkie Alam Ara and scores of jubilee hit films like ‘Aradhana’. We are proud of ‘Sairat’ which has created box-office history and decided to showcase it to the international audience.”
Reacted Yusuf, "Sairat is a phenomenon and never ever in the past, have so many different foreign diplomats come together to watch a Marathi movie. It was an informal recreation for them, and all the diplomats thoroughly enjoyed the authentic performances, but some of them were jolted by the tragic climax,” smiled Yusufbhai.
