Although Faisal Khan is the younger brother (‘bhaijaan’) of superstar Aamir Khan, his career didn’t make headway inspite of good films like ‘Madhosh’ and ‘Mela’. But now he is staging a comeback with the movie ‘Chinar—Daastaan-E-Ishq', based on the novel 'Jheel Jalti Hai' by famous writer Khwaja Farooq Ranzu Shah.
Set in a pre-terrorism Kashmir, this is a love story. Other than Faisal Khan who is returning after nine years, the other actors include Dilip Tahil, Shahbaz Khan and others on the set.
In the movie, the character played by Dilip Tahil is forcefully marrying off his daughter to a rich man, when hero Faisal Khan unites the bride with his poor friend and her lover at gun point. Shahbaz Khan plays the character of a renowned person who attends the wedding. “I am playing the character of a jilted lover. In the movie, I unite my poor friend with a rich girl who loves each other, but her father tries to forcefully marry her to a rich person,” discloses Faisal Khan.
About his comeback, Faisal Khan said, “I want to do good roles. I liked this story and hence I decided to do this movie. I will do movies only if they have a good script.”
Faisal when asked about not featuring in any of his iconic actor-producer’s home-productions, he says, “Few people know that I was a ‘script doctor’ in all the productions of Aamir, but no good script came my way. Since all my subsequent films like ‘Basti’, ‘Paltan’, didn’t do well I was waiting for the right script to come along.” Whether Faisal now achieves success in his comeback remains to be seen.
