Come 2019, and veteran Bollywood composer-singer-performer-songs-writer Bappi Lahiri backed by style-icon film-producer Manju Bharti, is gearing up to make his debut as a ‘movie director’ for a movie ironically titled ‘Ek Adhura Sangeet’. That’s what Alokesh (yes, that’s Bappi-da’s real name) formally announced at his 66th birthday (on Nov 27) star-studded celebrations.
Enthuses Bappi-da, “In my jubilant musical career which completes 50 years, I have achieved in all possible fields relating to film and pop-music, only film-direction was left out. Taking inspiration from my ‘mama-jee’ the legendary versatile Kishore-da Kumar who was a master all-rounder, I felt I should also dabble in ‘direction’. Let me assure all my loyal fans that they will love this new movie and my trendy music,” smiles the ‘Disco King’ who is known for flaunting thick layers of religious mascot chains and pendants.
According to Bappi, they have finalized swag-dude Mukesh Bharti to play the male lead in ‘Ek Adhura….’. On the same occasion, a book of poems written by Bappi-da titled ‘We Are One’ based on world harmony-peace-love was also released by the evergreen star Jeetendra. Besides Jeetu, a galaxy of celeb-friends attended the janamdin-jashn including Shatrughan Sinha with producer Pahlaj Nihalani, Govinda, film-maker B.Subhash (of ‘Disco Dancer’ fame), Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik, Lalit, Jolly Mukherjee, Ila Arun, Sarbani Mukherjee and Aneel Murarka even as Bappi-da’s chartbusting retro- songs including ‘Yaar bina chain kahaan rey’ were being played.
