Essentially a Bollywood heroine Dipika Chikhalia-Topiwala was even paired opposite superstar Rajesh Khanna in 'Ghar Ka Chirag' (1989) and 'Khudaai' (1994). Besides Hindi flicks, the dainty Dipika even acted in a string of diverse regional movies. But her cardinal claim to fame still remains the retro-mytho-TV show 'Ramayana' on DD, directed by Ramanand Sagar where she played the iconic 'Sita-Maiyya', for which she was actually deified by her devout die-hard fans.

Currently, Dipika has acted in this Gujarati version of the landmark Marathi movie 'Natsamrat' which released this week to an amazing response. Enthuses the dignified Dipika, “Since my priority is powerful  roles and a great script, I had no issues with playing a pivotal role in the Gujarati version, as it also happens to be my mother-tongue. In fact, in the Gujju version of  'Natsamrat', produced under the top banner Sughand Films and directed by Jayant Gilatar, they have added some more crucial scenes for my lead character Mangala, which is much more fiery vis-a-vis the Marathi version.”

Dipika does not mind playing mytho-costume characters all over again. “If it's really exciting and challenging why not. Maybe someone like 'Jhansi Ki Rani' or any other powerful historical or mytho role,” smiles the petite, spunky actress who has also shot for a sensitive Hindi movie 'Ghalib' revolving around a terrorist and his family.

Is the former elected MP game to re-enter politics next year? “This thought has not yet crossed my mind. Let's see what destiny has in store for me,” shrugs the artistic Dipika, whose off-screen passion is sketching oil-paintings.
