
At 88, he's one octogenarian who can give spry youngsters a run for their money as regards verve and vitality. Dev Anand, charmingly forthright and endearing was in his element addressing the scribe tribe at his recent birthday bash convened at a plush suburban Mumbai hotel.
Even as the indefatigable veteran turned 88 on September 26, 2011, he was all gung ho over ‘Chargesheet’ readying to illumine cinemas, come September 30, 2011.
"My film has an actor of the calibre of Naseeruddin Shah," Anand told an eager media. "It also has Jackie Shroff and Divya Dutta. The world has seen 66 years of Dev Anand as an actor and a star. When I think of it, my own head begins to spin! It's been 62 years of Navketan and I'm happy to have a release like ‘Chargesheet’ coming up next from my banner."
Expressing delight on his achievements Anand declared, "I think of myself as being unique in very many ways. I don't copy anyone and I don't remake films of other filmmakers. I'm a bit of a gambler too. I'm on a route of cinema that I thoroughly enjoy. Somebody, somewhere in the world is either thinking of me, talking of seeing or seeing any one of my films."
