It is not always that a top-ranking gorgeous -heroine would dare to appear with a disfigured face on-screen.
One recalls the bold’n’ beautiful erstwhile sex-symbol of the 70’s -- Zeenat Aman whose face was shown partially disfigured by the accidental scalding effect of burning-hot oil in the Raj Kapoor-directed movie ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’(1978).
Cut to 2019. Now it’s the turn of stunning mega-star Deepika Padukone who has unveiled her gut-wrenching look from upcoming film "Chhapaak". In this soul-stirring story-based movie, which also has co-actor Vikrant Massey in the cast, will have Deepika playing the realistic role of an acid attack survivor, and the actor said the character will remain special for her forever.
The 33-year-old actor also announced that the Meghna Gulzar-directed film will release on January 10, just five days after her birthday “it’s a character (Malti) that will stay with me forever. The movie, which is based on the life of acid attack survivor and activist Laxmi Agarwal, is also Deepika's debut production venture.
In 2005, while Laxmi was waiting at a bus stop in Delhi, she was attacked by an assailant, a man twice her age, known to her family and an unlikely suitor whose advances she had declined.
