For producer-director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, his maiden Hollywood venture ‘Broken Horses’ is a passion project.
The trailer of the movie, slated to release on April 10, was launched by Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan yesterday.
Aamir, who starred in Chopra’s ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘PK’, said, “I am happy for Vinod that I am here to unveil his first English film ‘Broken Horses’. My good wishes are with him... I am eagerly waiting to watch the film.”
Chopra, the director of films like ‘Parinda’, ‘1942: A Love Story’ and ‘Mission Kashmir’, said the English film was a different challenge for him and scriptwriter Abhijat Joshi.
“I have made films for the last 39 years but ‘Broken Horses’ is not a film for me; it’s a dream. I never thought that I will be able to write, produce and direct a film in English,” Chopra told reporters.
“People like James Cameron and Alfanso Cuaron have said such nice words after watching the film. It’s a dream fulfilled for me. This is just passion and madness.”
Chopra said while working on the writing of ‘Broken Horses’, he would keep the scripts of classics like ‘China Town’, ‘The Godfather’ and ‘Sixth Sense’ in front of him “to psyche” himself.
The producer said he was grateful to the ‘Eklavya’ star as Bachchan encouraged Chopra during his days of struggle.
“When I first came to Mumbai I met him at Mohan studio with my diploma film and requested him to watch the film. He was a huge star at that point of time and he still is.
