It’s not often that one imagines a Bollywood heroine as a plump girl next door! Bhumi Pednekar went against all odds and introduced us to the young, upfront and innocent Sandhya in ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’.
She did not just play the ‘weighty’ role with élan, but also won the hearts of fans and critics with her debut performance. After winning almost all awards back home, Bhumi has now bagged the award for the ‘Best Debutante’ at the IIFA 2016 in Spain. Bhumi’s win for her power packed performance didn’t come in as a surprise considering the critical acclaim she has received over the past year.
The young and svelte Bhumi looked stunning at the event and upped the glam quotient. On receiving the honour, the talented actress said, “This is my first nomination and overseas Award win. I am extremely excited and happy. I want to dedicate this one to my family and friends. When your work is appreciated for your first film, it’s a feeling that can’t be explained. I want to thank everyone who has contributed in changing my life. I hope to keep entertaining you all.”
