If all goes well, veteran yet evergreen Bollywood composer-singer Bappi Lahiri ('Disco King') may sing his composer son Bappa's composition, setting a rare precedent.
“We have in the past, recorded a devotional-spiritual album. But this time with the backing of Champak Jain (of 'Venus'), I would definitely want to record a special youth-centric pop number composed by Bappa, who is currently in the US,” enthused Bappi-da who was the chief guest at the event hosted by Venus Worldwide Entertainment, to release their romantic single track 'Jaagi Ankhon Mein- Tu Hi Tu'.
Incidentally, this track is composed by Bappa, but is sung by Palak Muchhal and Amit Mishra. Not only did Bappi-da seem to be fidaa over his own son's composing calibre but he was also impressed with the vibrant visuals of the fabulous song-picturisation on vivacious Zaara Yesmin and debonair Farhad Shahnawaz.
“This song has been picturised not in Europe, but in our own country by Sayan Roy, on the snowy slopes of Gulmarg,” revealed Champak, who is a staunch supporter of the 'Make-In-India' sarkaari mission. Interestingly, the hot-blooded romantic pair Zaara and Farhad was appreciated as they shot in sub-zero freezing temperature, as if it were a routine affair.
Asked why he was more into 'playback singing' these days instead of composing for Bollywood films, Bappi-da shot back, “Frankly speaking, I am not comfortable with the trend of sharing composing credits with other multiple music directors for the same film. Only if I get to compose 'all' the songs, I am game for such movies,” Lahiri signs off.
