Coming (Republic Day) January 26, 2018, acclaimed actor Sushant Singh Rajput will be seen on screen ‘moonwalking’. Not by way of simulating the iconic gliding back-and-forth dance-steps patented by legendary Michael Jackson, but as a part of his outer-space odyssey in this upcoming movie ‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’, where he plays an ‘astronaut’.
After having convincingly played the iconic cricketer ‘M S Dhoni’ in the biopic on screen, Sushant is a ‘game’ for out-of-the-box demanding roles.
The adventurous actor will head to the US-based prestigious (NASA) National Aeronautics and Space Administration as a part of his ‘prep’ for this same movie, where he will train at the center from the July 21 to July 24.
Directed by National Award winner Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, the first-of-its-kind Bollywood sci-fi movie is based on a team of astronauts, whose mission brings the country together. As a part of his preparation for the space adventure, Sushant will undergo NASA training in the spacesuit (designed by John Palmer), practicing the ‘moonwalk’, experiencing zero gravity, docking the shuttle to the ISS, flying a space shuttle simulator.
Enthused director Chauhan said, “ Sushant is extremely dedicated and goes above and beyond as an actor. Filming a space odyssey is a challenge in itself and Sushant is just making it easier for me.”. Produced by Viki Rajani, the movie ‘Chanda Mama…', which includes in the cast stalwart actors like R Madhavan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, may have its voice-over by Aamir Khan. ‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’ is the ‘mukhda’ of a nursery-rhyme poem sung by Asha Bhosle in the retro-movie ‘Vachan’ (1955).
