Ashmit Patel’s making his mark in Bollywood; his upcoming thriller sounds quite exciting
‘Murder’ dude Ashmit Patel who these days sports a continuity black bushy beard, just made his presence felt at on-furlough actor Sunjay Dutt’s private New Year party. The suave Patel who has this casanova image now threatens to return to the theatre screens with his latest movie ‘Home Stay’ (the Hindi version) directed by noted Southside director Santhosh Kodenkeri. Flamboyant Ashmit who shot into prominence during ‘Bigg Boss’, thanks to his open philandering with ex-flame Veena Malik, discloses that in ‘Home Stay’ he has “a dual-dimension role which will startle audiences.”
Isn't it yet another routine murder-mystery macabre movie? “No, it’s an unusual horrifying cocktail of crime-suspense-thrills and the element of scary supernatural. We also shot in remote jungle and wild locales under adverse conditions with ‘zero’ network,” insists Patel who now shares a warm rapport with his sibling actress Amisha Patel.
Not willing to divulge details regarding the twists in the tale, Ashmit discloses that the story of ‘Home Stay’ showcases eerie events happening over a time-span of 24 hours. Wasn’t the title ‘misleading’ when the film is not confined to the residential premises? Justifies hi-tech filmmaker Santhosh, “It’s a trend-facility of tourism where travellers stay in a hired local home, instead of a hotel. Out here, all the weird scary developments happen to the paying guest-heroine glam-babe Sayali Bhagat who is staying alone overnight.
The interval-point and climax has its shock-value scenes that will jolt the cine-goers,” informs the director.
Asked if he had any kind of major phobia off-screen, the chilled-out Ashmit shrugs, “No, I tend to translate my fear into positive energy and don’t get petrified easily.”
