Rajiv Rai’s Pyaar, Ishq Aur Mohabbat (2001) was his debut film. The film bombed at the box-office but it is what launched Arjun Rampal’s acting career. He received multiple movie offers after starring in this film.
His last release Chakra-vyuh earned him rave reviews from critics.
Today, Arjun Rampal, born on Nov. 26, seems to be making just the right choices while being ultra serious about his career.
One look at his choice of films like Om Shanti Om, and Don and one can see that most of them are with directors of repute and they also require him to don a rather serious avatar. Films with Prakash Jha, Sudhir Mishra and Madhur Bhandarkar are pretty much a testimony to that. Even these filmmakers have discovered a new Arjun and are picking and choosing him for all important roles.
“I think all these directors too have noticed that I wish to push the envelope. There is an element of surprise that I wish to offer to my directors,” smiles Arjun.
What made him sign Heroine which was an out and out Kareena film?
“See, to begin with I was apprehensive about Heroine in which the protagonist was Kareena. I think my role of a superstar, who was Kareena’s love interest in the film, came across very nicely.”
“As for Prakash Jha, we have been working together for long and have gotten along really well. An understanding that has developed between us,” says Arjun.
