Seasoned evergreen actor Anil Kapoor will be receiving the coveted highest honour, the ‘Dadasaheb ‘Phalke Ratna’ Academy Award', this evening at the Bhaidas Hall at a glittering star-studded event, according to its convenor Ashok Shekhar.
While Priyanka Chopra will be receiving the prestigious Phalke Academy Award for being an ‘Internationally Acclaimed Actress’, stunning Manisha Koirala will be felicitated for being ‘brave and beautiful’ for battling courageously with cancer. Incidentally, the elegant Juhi Chawla will be receiving her second Phalke Academy Award (she received her first one in 2014) for her classy performance in the movie ‘Chalk and Duster’.
Not surprisingly, Raveena Tandon, whose realistic performance in ‘Maatr’ was widely appreciated, will also be presented with the Academy Award. Not one to be left out, the shapely svelte, Shilpa Shetty is also being honoured as the ‘style icon’ at the same event. Ace TV stand-up comedian and film actor (upcoming movie ‘Firangi’) Kapil Sharma, is being honoured for his hilarious forte, while stalwart versatile performer Anupam Kher will also be getting the Academy trophy-accolade.
The Phalke Academy Awards event, started way back in the year 2000, has the backing of 33 film-trade-craft-associations and the past awardees include legendary names like Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Dev Anand, Ajay Devgn, Vinod Khanna, Jeetendra, Subhash Ghai and Rekha. This year, the event which has Ganesh Jain as its Chairman and Neena Jalan as the Vice Chairperson, will be presided over by the guests of honour, which include the State Cabinet Minister Subhash Desai, the City Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar and Actor, TV host and Political Leader Aadesh Bandekar.
