Against the scorching desert locales, Bollywood actress-turned-DJ Shilpi Sharma simply sizzles in the video of her just released remixed ‘single’ track ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’ directed by Aziz Zee, which she says, is her salute-tribute to the classic romantic retro number iconic legend Rekha. Explaining this, Shilpi said, “Innovative singer-composer Arko Pravo Mukherjee has ‘recreated’ (not ‘remixed’) the original song, with a groovy rhythmic ‘club’ flavor. This song-mukhda which is full of lyrical and rhythmic energy, has now been reprised by Jasmine Sandlas. There is even an original ‘rap’ potion sung by Arko and the antaraa is a fresh score. In fact, I am already getting rave responses.”
Her previous remixed track ‘Radha’ from the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’, is already a digital and disco-chart buster. It may be recalled that Shilpi had a striking role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s 'Heroine' (2012) and was almost finalized for yet another movie, when she took a sabbatical.
“That’s because I lost my doting dad and I became an emotional wreck. Listening to music proved to be my healing therapy . Later, I dabbled in DJ-ing with proactive help from my DJ friends. The frenzied response from the dancing revelers to my DJ-ing was so exhilarating. Then there was no looking back,” insisted shapely Shilpi, who is likely to make her ‘debut’ as a pop-singer with probably a fusion-rap single in her husky voice. “And maybe return to movies, provided I get good, intriguing acting offers.”
