A medical doctor from the University of Bombay, she went on to pursue a master's degree from the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, USA. Dr. Piramal has received the Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Merite (Knight of the Order of Merit) in 2006, from the French President Mr. Jacques Chirac and the Lakshmipat Singhania-IIM, Lucknow National Leadership Award, in the category of Young Leader in the field of Science and Technology for r006 from the Prime Minister of India.
