This Boman Irani shares his name with the other one from the entertainment world, but the two could not be more different. Rustomjee, a premium real estate developer in Mumbai started construction in 1996 and rapidly rose to become one of the leading companies in Mumbai through its pursuit of excellence and strict quality control.
But apart from accomplishing a number of residential projects, the company moved into the education space as well, one of its first initiatives being the Rustomjee International School, Rustomjee Cambridge School and Rustomjee Academy. Nor did they stop there, their efforts diversifying into the area of corporate social and civic responsibility. Mumbai owes them much for their maintenance of various gardens, road dividers, and traffic islands across the city. It has also taken up the responsibility of education of their construction site labourers’ children through the Mobile Creche movement.
Boman Irani has been the recipient of several honours, awards and recognitions over the years. Various organisations have come forward to recognize the contributions that he has made for several causes.
These span both professional and personal areas of his life, from commendation for his building projects to excellence in marketing them, and from winning the Indira Gandhi Sadbhavana Award for his work in national integration to recognition of his achievements as a builder of brands, an entrepreneur in education and a contributor to society on the whole.
