Rusi Behramsha Bhumgara, president of The World Zoroastrian Organisation (WZO) and felicitated by them for social work, he is also the General Secretary of the Federation of Zoroastrian Association for Welfare & Culture (FOZAWAC) since 1994, Rusi is well connected to sports activities. He was a member of the Managing Committee of Mumbai Cricket Association for 4 years and of its finance committee for 9 years. He was then Jt. Hon. Secretary of Parsee Gymkhana for 15 years and Vice President of Parsee Gymkhana for 3 years. He conducts annually, all Parsees Tournaments Competitions in cricket, badminton, table tennis, aquatics, billiards, snooker and chess. He conducts Jal Pardiwalla All Parsee Athletic Meet and is the joint Hon. Secretary of All Parsee Sports Foundation since 1999. As a lion since 1977, he has been offering voluntary service for any charitable and social activity. He is a trustee of Dadar Parsee Welfare Centre since 2002 as also member of the Managing Committee of Bombay Parsee Association who felicitated him by honouring him with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 for outstanding contribution to Parsee Sports in the year 2000. The Surat Parsee Punchayet felicitated him for promoting sports amongst Zoroastrians. At present he works as executive secretary at Princess Victoria Mary Gymkhana popularly known as P.V.M. Gymkhana.
Exercise - a must for human beings: Rusi feels that the technology explosion which has given new toys to the youth, the toys called smart phones, i pads, tablets, etc. have made sure that the youth is confined indoors and is totally deprived of any kind of physical/outdoor activities, so very necessary for the right growth of a youngster. “Sports not only gives exercise to human bodies, but also inculcates the spirit of sportsmanship, besides imparting training to accept defeat. Indulging in competitive sports prove extremely useful in day to day life, as also in decision making in one’s career.” “He commends those young boys and girls who do not get addicted to the evils of modern technology and instead spend their time judiciously in studies and sports.” “He would like to advise the parents to encourage their children to take to outdoor sports at a very young age, before they get addicted to the so called modern technology.”
