Modern Lunch Home enjoys an ideal and enviable location in Fort area, situated at 13 Fairy Manor, Rustom Sidhwa Marg which is bustling with office goers, as well as residential buildings surrounding this restaurant. Started in 2002, it was renovated in 2009 with a simple, clean and comfortable decor befitting its name 'Modern' with two sections; one a.c. and the other non a.c. While the a.c. section can accommodate 30 covers, the non-a.c. section adjacent to it is ideal for 24 covers. Robust flavours gallop across your taste buds and it is not just the sea food aroma that we are talking about, but also a vast array of South Indian, Indian, Chinese and Tandoor cuisine, cooked deliciously to tantalise your plate and palate as well as satiate your appetite. All credit goes to Vincent Fernandes and Ronald Castellino for managing this place superbly and looking after the needs of its customers during peak office hours, when the restaurant is packed to capacity. Open from 11 a.m. to 12 midnight, they serve only lunch and dinner and you can avail of both veg. and non veg. thalis during lunch time.

Tinkle your glasses with the choicest Indian and imported liquors, beers and wines, while you enjoy every morsel of their lip-smacking starters. Go in for the Chicken Kohinoor or Chicken Hangama Kababs that simply melt n your mouth or bite into their crunchy Chicken Lollipops, Shredded Chicken in Black Pepper Sauce or Chicken in hot perry sauce, all relished with gusto. If you are a sea food connoisseur and wish to go for classic tandoori flavours, opt for their pomfret tandoori or surmai tawa or the flavoursome prawns roasted chilly or bombil chilly. Mutton Nilgiri Seekh is soft and succulent with its unique flavour and taste. The veggies too have ample option to choose from - veg. gold coin, makkai cheese kababs, stuffed aloo kababs or paneer burnt garlic.

For the main course, the star attraction is the aromatic sea food biryani, unerringly cooked, jostled with pieces of surmai and prawns that gets you salivating. Chicken agri masala or murg masallam or chicken malvani are redolent of their authentic flavours and so is the surmai pulimunchi, a south Indian delicacy. However, don't miss out on their fresh and flavoursome pomfret or prawn gassi (curry) which can be relished with white rice. Mutton rogan josh and mutton karela, kabab masala await the meat lovers. The 'green' vegetable lovers will polish off the veg. handi biryani or veg. hyderabadi biryani with 'raita' along with palak cheese kofta, veg. tawa or veg. makhmali, taking you on an excellent culinary journey.

Next time when you happen to be in the vicinity of Fort area, do drop in at Modern Lunch Home for lunch or dinner at this pocket-friendly restaurant for some great food with classic choices and generous proportions.
