Most of us in the community are familiar with Armaity and Rashid D. Bomanbehram - the celebrity couple well-known for their videography and photography. They are familiar faces at weddings, navjotes and all other joyful and auspicious occasions, clicking away with their cameras and covering the functions of their clients to their entire satisfaction.
Rashid completes 46 years in the field of photography, while Armaity completes 33 years in the field of videography. She holds the title of being the First Parsi Lady in Videography.
Rashid started photography as a hobby during school time and developed interest as the years went by. He is an ace photo-journalist too whose uncanny knack of capturing some of Mumbai's worst fires, accidents and human interest photos has made him win many awards. Last year on 21st August, 2013, he received the best Press Photographer Award at the hands of Hon'ble Cabinet Minister for Rural Development, Shri Jayant Patil. The Mantralaya Vruttpatra Chayya Chitrakar Sangh presented the 'Yaggopal Singh ChaddhaTrophy' at Marathi Patrakar Sangh. Rashid has also received 3 Bravery medals for rescuing people at the cost of his life - Giant's Award, Lions Award and Rotary Club Award. His big break through came about when the famous music directors Kalyanji and Anandji introduced him to the world's greatest hypnotist, Max Colliee, who had come from Scotland to perform shows in Mumbai. Max Colliee had 125 sell0out shows and Rashid was retained to cover each of the shows. Progressing further in his field he then started covering film premiers, film parties and city topmost events. As the years rolled by, he become well-known to politicians, film starts and the upper echelons of society. A humble and devout Zoroastrian, he is a great believer in the divine faith of Mushkil Asan Behram Yazad. This faith has helped him and kept him grounded in all circumstances. He feels happy and blessed as all his 3 children are well-settled and married within the Parsi community.
Armaity too has captured many precious and memorable occasions and moments at weddings, navjotes and other celebrations. The husband and wife team work together with their own professional equipment. Rashid with his digital camera and Armaity with HD Video camera. It is seasonal work, no doubt but they love their profession and believe that the show must go on.
